Every once in a while someone asks us, “So… what kind of show is PetRock?”

The answer is pretty simple.

We’re not a choreographed show band. We don’t dance in sync. We don’t rely on prerecorded tracks or canned vocals. There isn’t a computer backstage filling in the parts we can’t play.

What you hear is exactly what eight musicians are creating in real time.

That has been our philosophy from day one.

When we started building PetRock, we weren’t trying to become a tribute to one particular artist or recreate a concert note for note. Instead, we imagined something a little different.

What if you could step into an alternate universe where the legendary musicians of the 1970s—the songwriters, players, and singers who created the soundtrack of a generation—got together one night for a jam session? No egos. No opening acts. Just a group of incredible musicians sharing the songs that defined an era.

That’s the show we’ve always wanted to create.

It also explains why our song list is a little different. Sure, you’ll hear plenty of familiar favorites, but you’ll also hear songs that most tribute bands wouldn’t dare tackle. We love digging deeper into the soundtrack of the ’70s to bring back songs that deserve another moment in the spotlight. They’re the songs you forgot you knew—until the first chorus hits and suddenly you’re singing every word.

That’s why PetRock performs with eight musicians. Every keyboard part, every harmony vocal, every percussion groove, every guitar lick, every bass line, and every drum fill is performed live. No computer tracks. No shortcuts. Just musicians making music together the way these songs were originally created.

We’re also a little obsessive about our gear. Whenever possible, we use instruments, amplifiers, and sounds that stay true to the era. It’s not about nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake—it’s about capturing the warmth, texture, and character that made these recordings so unforgettable.

Our goal isn’t simply to play songs from the 1970s. Our goal is to transport you there.
