It is said that when we are born we can perceive aspects of the world that adults cannot. Spirits, magic, even the unseen cosmic forces that bring life to the world around us all.
If you subscribe to this belief than you no doubt also believe that our own El Tiempo is that rare adult who never lost this ability. How else could he bring forth the heartbeat of the world on stage? Indeed, how else could he summon others into his nexus, delivering masterful smooth vibes in ways rarely seen outside the shadow of Uluru or the high plains of the Southwest?
His journey, however, began far away in Dos Torres, Spain. Food. Family. Flamenco. Did these forces shape his being? Of course, but there were many more. There were days spent communing with the earth. Walking barefoot through national parks. Skiing the back bowls of the Rockies. Even a missing two-week stint in the Swiss Alps of which he speaks in hushed tones of a mystic guru, training in the healing arts, and his insight into the true meaning of “Swiss Time.”
But don’t be mistaken. El Tiempo was never a recluse. His path always returns to the bright lights and raucous sounds of the city where he reconnects the pulse of the 21st century with that of our most ancient forebears. Where he fights the evils of disassociation and automation with the life-giving forces of music.
“Each one of us is the outright master of our Dignity. We may feel it lost or stolen at times, but it is never truly gone. For our dignity is the unseen force guiding our soul through this life, and it will be with us when we get to the other side. So be smooth and stay cool, folks.”
