We'll Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends

It was a Wednesday evening, and some of the band was chilling in the Smooth Hut when we got word that our lead singer was splitting from the band, just like that. His note, scribbled on a Kleenex, simply said, ‘I’m out.’ It hit us like a ton of bricks, man.

Members of the band sprung into action, trying to reach him. No luck. And then, the rumors started swirling.

Some said he was off in the mountains of Tibet, chasing after the secret to Andrew Gold’s lyrical phrasing. Others claimed he’d jetted off to California, running a small surfboard waxing gig. And then there were whispers about him checking into the Turdwilliger Asylum for the Criminally Impressionable.

But whatever was going on with him, we had summer gigs lined up, and we couldn’t let it bring us down.

News spread fast, and fellow musicians reached out, offering to audition or fill in for our upcoming shows. It was a humbling experience, to say the least.

We only had to bail on one gig (Apologies, Sioux City!), and then it was time to get our act together. Sorting through calendars, finding stand-ins, and getting them up to speed became our main focus.

But fret not, our Pebbles, for we’ll be back in action before you know it. Our summer plans are still on track, and we’re ready to roll with whatever comes our way. Soft rock, smooth tunes, and all the good vibes of the ’70s are still on the agenda.

Stay tuned,
